I just read a post on Plasticbag.org about OpenID. It seems overly simple once you wrap your mind around it, but is it just a stop gap measure? Perhaps people really need IP addresses doled out like social security numbers...but that's scarey...think of the fraud, the fishing, the humanity!
Maybe OpenID is more than a proper solution. Smart folks should think about this. I'm not that smart and my blogs don't get many comments. I think I've had four comments ever, from people I've never met, and two of them were spam. If comment spam was as bad as my work email, I'd probably pay a fee to make it go away...so perhaps there is an economy there after all.
